Cloud9 upset Astralis, advance to ECS semis
Cloud9 have secured first place in Group B and a place in ECS Season 3 Finals' semis after completing a 19-15 upset over Astralis on Mirage.
Group B's winners' match saw Astralis getting off to a flying start on the Terrorist side of Mirage, getting the first three rounds on the back of a comfortable pistol round on the B bombsite, followed by a few dominant gunrounds for an 8-0 lead.
Cloud9 then started putting rounds on the board with three confident defenses in a row before saving a couple of close clutch situations for 8-5, including a tight 1v3 attempt from Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander. Astralis finished off the half with two in a row, switching over to Counter-Terrorists with a 10-5 half.
The North American squad won the second pistol round on the B bombsite, but left themselves little to no time to attack in the following round, helping Astralis reply right back with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen getting a triple with a Deagle to extend their lead to 12-6.
The Danes conceded the first gunround and would have gotten away with another Deagle buy if it wasn't for Mike "shroud" Grzesiek's 1v4 clutch on B. Cloud9 managed to decimate their opponents' economy once again after splitting the next couple of rounds, closing the gap to 13-12.
Things started looking dire for the favorites once Cloud9 grabbed the lead at 14-13 and the next two rounds were exchanged once more, with Timothy "autimatic" Ta reaching 30 kills. However, Astralis clinched the last round with a narrow B defense to push the match to overtime.
Cloud9 continued their fantastic T side and picked up three rounds in a row with quick strategies, and finished off the match with a 4-0 in overtime for an overall 19-15 scoreline.
