The first open qualifier ahead of the Europe Minor Championship has come to a close with North Academy and PENTA clinching their spots in the closed part.

Throughout the last three days, the first 512-slot open qualifier for the Europe Minor took place with teams such as Dignitas, PENTA, North Academy, and Tricked in attendance.

Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill's team met their demise in the quarter-finals, where North Academy prevailed 2-0 and proceeded to end a rather surprising run of the Lithuanian side GameplayDNA in semis, grabbing their spot in the closed qualifier.

On the other side, Kevin "⁠kRYSTAL⁠" Amend's squad passed Singularity, Forcebuy, and finally Tricked in semis to secure their place in the next qualifying stage.

With PENTA and North Academy joining the fight for eight spots at the Europe Minor, the team list of the Swiss closed qualifier now looks as follows:

No, it isn't. But for a team that was supposedly one of the strongest ones in the qualis, with ex semi finalists and a player that won a major (as a coach though), it wasn't expected.

In MLG Columbus, they had to go through 3 or 4 open qualis to make it to the minor in their way to a major.

Didn't Splyce only qualify because Mongolz didn't manage to get visas to go to the US?

Yes, but before that they went through numerous open qualifiers before dicking out at closed.

All eight teams that go to the Minor will have to qualify. There were eight invites for the closed qualifier though.
