ESL Masters Spain teams set

ESL Spain, who recently teamed up with Movistar—a branch of Telefonica—, one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the world, announced its new CS:GO League at the company’s flagship store in Madrid. The league will have a 22,100€ prize pool as well as money set aside to help the teams during the LAN finals.

The first teams to go through in the first of several qualifiers were Nevermind, who upset several other more experienced teams for a spot in the competition, the favorites, KPI, and Jonathan "⁠MusambaN1⁠" Torrent's EU4IA.

The second qualifier saw the ex-x6tence quartet featuring the AWPer Rajohn "⁠EasTor⁠" Linato, now playing as KELOKEE, go through. Finally, the last four teams to qualify in the last two qualifiers were x6tence, Arctic, Baskonia, and AIE.

Musamban1 will be back in a national competition after missing the last LVP season

The prize pool for the league will be of 22,100€. Of those, 100€ will be paid per win during the regular season while the remainder, over 16,000€, will be up for grabs at the LAN finals. ESL Spain will also have 20,000€ available for teams to pay for transportation, accommodation, and diets.

The first season of ESL Masters will kick off on April 17 and will consist of 14 game days which will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Each team will play each other twice, with the six best teams from the league qualifying to the LAN finals in June.

There was a lineup of Overgaming -Musamban1 -Alex -Mixwell -Lowel and -Kairi if I'm not mistaken, flipin as 6th/backup player but because of egos the lineup stay little to no time, that were the good times of spanish csgo

This is 2017, lul. UK was at least good in Source for a bit, but Spain has some decent players in CS:GO. That's why I said it's 1 tier above. Be realistic, dude.

Source is irrelevant tho Spain had a brief moment of relevancy in 1.6, between 2004 and 2006. Nothing special tbh. CSGO?, Spain > UK, no discussion.

Not exactly, in spain most of the clubs dont pay and if they do, anything above 800€ and, no, we dont think our teams are the best in the world, but its a league for some players to complete at spanish level and to push some players like mixwell and lowel to international level. We still watching international tournaments like majors and stuff. Dont talk without knowless and its best not bestest

Its actually odd. Two or so years ago, the lineup with MusambaN1, lowel, Kairi etc posed a real upset threat against tier 1 teams. They were basically in the position LDLC is at the moment - and they have absolutely no relevance to the top anymore. What happened?

We're shit. Jokes aside, I think they still don't have the recipe to build a 'competitive' team. Just look at Brazil, they were under a rock until FalleN's team started climbing their way to the top. Now we do have two-three teams that actually know whats the way to become an actual good team. At some point x6tence had a lineup of MusambaN1, Kairi, lowel, alex and mixwell and it didn't work. We need our own FalleN that can inspire the work ethic and motivation needed to lead the way.

Only Fer and Fallen are still from the original Kabum roster. Our problem is the commitment + too much ego. Not necessarily the need of a full 5 man roster that stays toguether for a long period of time ala VP for example.

Not enough commitment and/or too much ego + not enough money in Spain for CSGO (it is kind of changing a bit). Wizards/overgaming/x6tence of 2014 could have made it to a top15-20 place nowadays if they had stayed toguether, exactly where teams like flipside, kinguin, hellraisers, mouz or SS are rn.

Besides setting up a local competition it would also be good to set up a joined one (Iberian ESL Masters). That way, in the way, both parties so to speak can support each other to be able to progress and compete on a larger EU scale.

You're totally right, Portugal and Spain need to play together to have a chance. With Iberian competition is a lot more expected a great grow, than alone. We need mediatism, we're both counter-strike passionates, but we have no numbers alone, we need to work together, to have the numbers, the mediatism, to our scenes be saws by the world. With a iberian league, a iberian work, it's possible Spain and Portugal have their first profesional teams, competing in real cs world.

i don't understand people complain, this actually is very good for everyone, spanish scene and cs go scene in general.. companies start to care about cs go is a good thing, obviously it's a business but well, this will grow up whole cs go scene, and it's definitely a improvement for eSports
