Pimp on his way out of Liquid

Jacob "Pimp" Winneche has been moved to substitute while Liquid are negotiating his transfer with interested teams, the organization revealed on their website.

Jacob "Pimp" Winneche's spell as an active member of Liquid comes to an end after he had been part of the team for over nine months, since June last year.

The move comes after a series of mixed results, including group stage exits at the ELEAGUE Major, IEM Oakland, and ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals, as well as a semi-finals finish at ESL One New York.

Pimp's Liquid spell is coming to an end

The Dane's departure from Liquid is the second time the active roster had changed in as many months, after Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz replaced Spencer "Hiko" Martin in early February.

According to the release, the American organization is currently negotiating Pimp's transfer with interested parties while they are looking for his replacement. In the meantime, the 21-year-old will act as an active substitute.

"It’s with mixed feeling of sadness and excitement that I will no longer be a part of the Team Liquid starting roster. I no longer feel that playing for Liquid fulfills my personal expectations & goals, nor do I feel I can provide the commitment necessary to continue with the team on a long term basis." Pimp said in a statement.

"It has been a great ride and an experience I would not trade for anything in the world. I am not done as a player by any means, and I am actively looking for another team with a vision similar to mine. I want to take this time to thank Liquid for everything they’ve done and provided for me, a life experience I wouldn’t be without!"

Liquid's roster is following:

United States Nick "nitr0" Cannella
United States Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
United States Josh "jdm64" Marzano
Canada Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
Denmark Jacob "Pimp" Winneche (substitute)

Brazil Wilton "zews" Prado (coach)

Outside of their online duties in ESL Pro League, Liquid have a number of offline events coming up in April, including cs_summit (April 19-23) and DreamHack Open Austin (April 28-30).

seeming as liquid was actually worse after pimp joining than when they had adreN, he didn't fill anything at all the fall between major final and constantly dicked by top teams isnt just the difference between a carry player and an average player, it's the difference between a carry player and one that doesnt get many high impact kills at all even when s1mple didnt carry liquid with s1mple did well against good teams. S1mple didnt have to carry at all for them to beat faze or nv, etc. in the mlg and cologne majors. Why can't they do it with pimp? well, because s1mple isnt a stupid low impact player. even when hes not carrying hes still solid

Pimp was great. He did all of the roles no one else wanted to do. With Pimp in the team, it felt like we were one or two steps away from being a serious team (-nitr0 imo and -jdm if it came down to it). Now we're three steps back. Is this stanislaw's doing? Sure he said he left of his own will but it felt like it happened shortly after stan arrived

Please tell me what role pimp was playing, because he was not supporting/throwing nades, he was not entrying and setting his team up to frag, what "bitch role" was he playing? I have no idea how this narrative came about. Watch pimp in liquid's extremely important games. He gets rekt not paying attention VERY often, and doesn't generally get a ton of high impact kills.
2017-03-23 16:11
Pimp was the most skilled player they could psiblly have to do such a shit roles, Na cs will stay shit as always i am glad for pimp, he might end up in heroic or even north in future

Please take a second to think about every team pimp has joined and every team pimp has left. EVERY SINGLE TIME HE LEFT THEY GOT BETTER, EVERY TIME HE JOINED THEY GOT WORSE. Please pay attention and watch, if he joins a good team, they WILL get worse, and if liquid gets a reasonable replacement they will improve. I guarantee it.

To be fair, pimp didnt really live up to the expectations people had for him, but i defenitely do not feel he was the first that should be replaced within liquid. nitr0 is horrible, gets no impact frags, is kinda known being bitchy and wanting it his way (such as kicking s1mple), and still bottomfrags most games. I feel this departure seems more likely to be because of the fact that the new captain and pimp couldnt agree on certain things rather than him being replaced. Pimp was inconsistent, either he almost topfragged or barely got any frags, but he still wasnt the biggest problem in this team

Liquid should have stayed with 5 NA players in the first place lol. NA has a good pool of players, yet they choose to mostly recycle ex-Pros and bring in the bottom of Tier 1 / only Tier 2 EU players. All of this time and effort was wasted.

S1mple ended up coming back and forth a few times before ultimately leaving in the end. Sure, Liquid made it to semi-finals and grand-finals of majors with EU players. But where has that led them to now? Temporary success doesn't do much, if anything at all, in the long run lol. Yeah, I know e-sports is a business, but if Liquid really wanted to prolong their success, they would have done more to keep the EU players. After a series of roster changes, some of which involved bringing in EU players only to have them leave too long after their arrival, Liquid did poorly at events yet again. If they want to succeed in the long run, they need to keep a stable roster for more than 1 year AT LEAST, otherwise, they will only make it to the semi-finals and grand-finals a couple of times, only to go on a big losing streak. This will only result in the same repetitive process.

Give semi-pros a chance too, don't just recycle washed up pros. Scenes won't grow and organizations will never know if an upcoming talented player will have been worth it or not. Trial and error is the key to success. If an NA org brought over players from EU that would yield the same results as if they had just picked up NA players, they would be saving a lot of time, money, and effort. If NA orgs could reach semi-finals at majors and other big events with NA semi-pros AND EU semi-pros, then picking up NA semi-pros would be the better (and smarter) decision.

I actually think it's the only option he has. I don't get it, he must be swimming in cash from the Liquid contract, and he went to majors. If he goes to Rogue, he will be able to make a fulltime salary, but he won't ever be able to get close to a major.

i think nitro was worse but maybe pimp misses europe. sick or twist from misfits are only fresh replacements i can think of with talent. its either that or an na shuffle with players like shroud, n0thing, tarik, freak, nitro.. eww sounds horrible

imo reasonable chance optic completely falls apart and liquid picks up one more player

yea i agree, one of the 3 na teams has to die for the others to succeed.

i dont think c9 will ever succeed unless they fire their entire roster and start over

yep i think it would be best if c9 goes. imagine putting stewie or autimatic on liquid or optic. instantly solves their problems

Liquid has made so many questionable rosterchanges recently. I don't even know why they added Pimp from the start if they want to be a top team. Pimp obviously does not belong in the very top, which has been proven prior to him joining Liquid. jdm64 is another questionable addition to the roster. I'm yet to be impressed by him. He's a decent awper but that is all he is, he simply can not play with rifles consistently at a high level. And why couldn't they keep Hiko despite the addition of stanislaw? Who is also a questionable addition. Sure he had some very few good results with OpTic. They managed to upset and win a tournament but then what? I'm just mindbottled by the rosterchanges made by them. Not one since the addition of s1mple has been made towards improving the team.

Even if OpTic with stan didn't win alot, they were ALOT more competitive with EU than any NA team at the time. OpTic at the major got 12 rounds against Astralis. Liquid got 3. EliGE hard carried his ass off. Imagine what stan can do guiding such a player.

You're right, they were. I still dont think its enough and for a long enough period to take very much from it. I mean Cloud9, amongst other teams, have hade those kind of runs before as well where they could compete with the best teams and I don't think anyone in their right mind would put Cloud9 in the top along with the top EU teams as of now. I'm all for bringing up new talent and I admit stanislaw is the most reasonable addition to the team as of late, but all the other changes and the changes made in the team in order to bring in stanislaw. I dont know, it's just feel like they honestly dont know what the heck theyre doing.
2017-03-23 13:04
lol you have no clue. optic had better players not because stanislaw tactics

Really? Why can't they get out of groups since Stan left than? Literally the exact same players are still on the team and since Stan left they can't get a single win on LAN, talking about a single map. Please explain how they have the same players as before he left and now they can't win a single best of 1 on LAN? That should be enough proof that Optic are shit tier and it actually was Stanislaw doing a good job to make this shit tier team have a chance at winning LAN games, online I don't give a shit about.

I haven't even seen Liquid played a single time on LAN with Stanislaw so no i haven't said anything that implies their a good team. Looking at what we know, Optic has the same players as when Stanislaw was on the team and are pure shit can't win a single game on LAN, go further back when they kicked Stan and brought in Daps to IGL they were shit then to, than they kicked Daps and brought Stanislaw back and only then is when they had any success. Stan leaves the team again to Join Liquid and Optic are back to being complete shit again that's enough proof for me.

There is four scenarios that would make sense to me.. Scenario 1: Dignitas is going to kick Pita, and add Pimp. Scenario 2: Heroic is going to kick MODDII and add Pimp, to get a full Danish line-up, and then MODDII is taking Pita's spot in Dignitas. Scenario 3: Pimp will take the last spot at Rogue, from the coach LOMME. Scenario 4: Pimp will take Borups spot in Tricked. Honestly i hope for scenario 2 or 4. :-)

He left because there are rumors that RUSH and Mixwell are in negotiations to replace PIMP and JDM so he left before he could be cut

people cant really blame the failing of the team on one person alone tbh.
