VP 2-1 Astralis to make the finals

Virtus.pro won over Astralis 2-1 (16-3 Nuke, 9-16 Overpass, 16-4 Train) to eliminate the Danish team and move on to the grand final of DreamHack Masters Las Vegas.

The first semi-final of DreamHack Masters Las Vegas turned out to be a rematch of the ELEAGUE Major grand final, with Astralis and Virtus.pro vetoing down to the same three maps: Nuke, Overpass and Train.

Virtus.pro started off hot on their map pick, Nuke, as in the pistol Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski found his way through a smoke and eliminated three Astralis players who were trying to take over the A site. The Poles went into the first buy round with the modern mixture of M4's and UMP's, but Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas was still able to pick up a hat-trick of kills wielding the SMG on the A site.

The Danish team made it 4-1 thanks to Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye who got four kills as the Terrorists swarmed yard with pistols, but Astralis couldn't keep the pressure up as they lost the following round to a smart play from Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski, who hid on ramp and get three kills on unsuspecting Terrorists.

TaZ was key in two clutches that put Virtus.pro 10-1 up, and from that point onwards the Polish team cruised to a victory on Nuke, with the Terrorist pistol round win practically sealing the deal.

TaZ made Nuke easy for Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro picked up their third pistol round of the series as they held off the B rush, but a delayed version of the same tactic combined with Tec-9's ended up being successful for Astralis. That force-buy round win started a five-round win streak for the Danish team.

pashaBiceps and Filip "NEO" Kubski stepped up for the Polish side in the following rounds, with the latter clutching an important 1v2 on the retake of the B site. The score was 5-4 when Nicolai "device" Reedtz took out Snax with the Deagle and opened up the space for his team to overwhelm the A site and win the round on a low buy.

That round proved to be the breaking point in the first half as Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's team ran away with the lead after it, making the score 10-5 before the halftime switch. Kjaerbye picked up four kills with the USP-S in the pistol, continuing his strong form in the map, but the A site defense from Astralis was caught off guard on the following anti-eco, allowing Paweł "byali" Bieliński and co. build some momentum on their Terrorist side.

Virtus.pro narrowed the deficit to only two rounds (11-9), but an AK-47 combined with four pistols turned out to be enough for the Danes to defend the B site and get another low-buy win over NEO's team. After an eco from the Poles, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen got a quick double-kill holding down monster and closed out the round with another kill on short, making it 14-9 in favor of his team. The second map was closed out shortly after, with Astralis taking it 16-9.

Dupreeh's whole team went missing on Train

Virtus.pro's got to start on the CT side for the third time in the series, securing the CT side pistol and the following two rounds without too much trouble. device opened up the first buy round with the AWP, picking off Snax on A, but the B site fake from Astralis didn't fool the Poles and byali and NEO shut down the A site push, combining for all five kills. byali was on point on the decider map, resting on a +12 K-D after only 8 rounds played.

Astralis managed to catch TaZ off guard for two rounds in the row to make it 10-2, but the switch to a fast pace A attack backfired for ""  and co. they were shut down by Snax who picked up two kills on the fast flank through popdog.

The first half finished 12-3 for Virtus.pro and the Poles added another pistol round win to get inches from eliminating the current Major champions. Virtus.pro handled the following eco rounds well and closed out the map shortly after with a 16-4 scoreline and a 2-1 in the series.

Key Moment: The 4v5 situation in the first buy round on Train looked good for Astralis, but NEO and byali defended the larger bombsite by themselves, picking up all five kills and setting the tone for the strong CT side that followed.

PotM: Paweł "byali" Bieliński was a force to be reckoned with on both maps Virtus.pro won and finished the series with a 1.31 rating and 111.0 ADR, earning himself the PotM award.

Well played to VP. They deserve the grand final spot. But astralis will be back. They put up a fight atleast. Didn't roll over after first map. What's so bad about losing to a top team? One of them had to lose. Also VP started as CT thrice. Astralis were terrible at pistol rounds this event they need to improve that. Just buying armor and hoping for headshots doesn't win you anything.

cocky and arrogant? Taz on the interview what happen on overpass he just said Astralis are a better team on it, instead of the usual pro bullshit "we throw and made so many mistakes", then Neo just said he was happy to win against such a strong team like astralis. The reason why taz was mad was because kid kjarbye said they undrperfomed after winning a final like that, for me thats the ultimate disrespect!

Well, i dont think theres anything wrong with being bloodthirsty and wanting to perform better than you do.. Thats actually a rare thing in my country.. Most people is settled with big muscles, a tiny girlfriend and a small pet/a dog in my country. Once they have this, they can die happy. Not many people are as fanatic as people like Kjaerbye, and if he wish to keep improving and be criticle about his own developed performance, that is a good thing right? Let him!?!?!?

Saying that your team underperformed after winning a major is the dumbest fucking thing ever, but of course your choker ass doesn't understand that.

you just won the biggest cs tournament ever, the first major in your history, with a fucking historic comeback and u say u "underperfomed"! Are u dumb? By saying that he is implying that if Astralis perfom they just would rekt everyone 16-0 and thats not even close to truth

You are overanalysing. They lost several rounds they shouldnt have lost, which was uncordinated and stupid put up, they did alot of mistakes in antiecos, and many of the rounds they threw away set up this situation they were in on Train at the major. It wasnt a stabile lan for them, last rounds of the tournament did indeed look shaky for them. Why the hell did you need to call me dumb?

I was not calling you dumb, i was calling kjarbye dumb by saying that. Sorry for misunderstanding. I think saying you underperformed still sounds rly bad. Sure Astralis made all those mistakes you pointed out but so did the otherteams, they didnt undeperformed at all.
2017-02-19 23:27
So you cant say "we will crush u next event" and then do it ??? Without triggering danish fanboys ? Good to know.

Whats with all the trashtalk on Astralis, they win 2 tournaments in a row, and are in the finals in 3 of them.. Suddenly when they loose in style to a strong looking Virtus.Pro, people trashtalks them? Hahahah fuck off braindeads. We still had 2 danish teams out of 4 teams in the top4. Oh well... Hazzz to win them all to stay loved i guess.

Normal fans will see who play good cs and enjoy. To bad that on this site there is so much hate for fans and opponent team itself .
2017-02-19 23:04
there is just fight between actual vp fans who crawl out of caves after each win and baiters with brazilian flags who are usually minimum 750k id. Its mainly happening because of those twitter kiddos who have separate twitter to post shit.

I bought pc equipment to have fun and enjoy life. Not to watch hate, trashtalk and stupid ignorant assholes eat eachother verbally on a daily basis. People should think about what they wanna do with there life. Hate is performed so much, we forget what respect is. You shouldnt hate someone for what they believe.

ive asked admins to tie hltv accounts to csgoid, so if you get permbanned you need to have another account with csgo in it, for example like faceit or esea.
2017-02-19 23:12
you're 100% right. Astralis are still top 1, they've just won the major and won ECS as well as several top 4 finishes including at DH LV, 2nd at ELEAGUE S2 as well. VP are an amazing team but Astralis are still the team to beat right now since neither SK, Na`Vi, FaZe etc have shown they can beat them.

I don't get it. Having mind poisoned by hate is just unhealthy, but hate blinds, so they don't understand.

9/10 comments here are just cancer... VP were in plow mode obviously, it was gg they deserve to win. VP saying they threw the finals at major is just as stupid as Kjaerbye saying they underperformed. Clearly people just hating cause Astralis won the major, look at how much people hated fnatic cause they were top 1, even booing them at the tournament cause VP lost.

1. VP=SK 2. NaVi 3. Faze/north .999 Astralis. Astralis is definatelly team of one event. Only one. Unfortunatelly it was major and final against VP. But relax, astralis will choke again and again. Remember my words. They dont have fighting spirit, soul of real fighters. Especialy dupreeh and glave. just pussies. i respect only xyp and device

If winning the major was "underperforming" ,according to KJB , then what would he call the performance today ? Choking? VP literally smashed astralis, out in"to the stars".
