FlipSid3 win DreamHack Leipzig

After three days of play FlipSid3 have emerged victorious in Leipzig. With a clean sheet throughout the tournament, FlipSid3 take the lion's share of the $100,000 over the local favorites BIG.

The third day of play at the DreamHack Astro Open Leipzig 2017 started with FlipSid3 clashing with LDLC. The CIS side, who came out of their group in first place after two best-of-one victories against BIG and Vega Squadron, took that match without missing a beat, winning 16-8 on Cache and 16-10 on Nuke.

On the other side of the bracket BIG and HEROIC clashed for the other spot in the final. With the two opening matches won, inckuding one against LDLC, it looked like HEROIC were the favored team to make it to the finals. The home team didn't disappoint its crowd, though, and after three maps BIG upset the Danes for a shot at the title.

electronic had a great performance in the final

After losing in the group stages, BIG had a chance at exacting revenge on FlipSid3, although the CIS team had other things in mind. The first map of the final was Cache. There, FlipSid3 were able maintain control since the beginning, winning the CT side 9-6, and then going on to win the attacking side for a 16-11 scoreline. On Cache, Denis "electroNic" Sharipov showed great potential with a 1.41 rating and 105.1 ADR.

Having won BIG's pick, FlipSid3 now had a clear path to victory on Train. The CIS combine won the attacking side, 8-7, and set themselves up for an easy second half. Once again, electroNic lead the charge for his team, this time with 99.3 ADR and a 1.36 rating. Bagging 8 of the 12 rounds played in the second half, FlipSid3 ended the map 16-11 and won their first trophy of the year.
