VP beat Space Soldiers for third place

Virtus.pro have secured third place at WESG 2016 World Finals and $200,000 in prizemoney with a straightforward 2-0 victory against Space Soldiers (Cobblestone 16-8, Nuke 16-6).

After Kinguin defeated Virtus.pro in two maps and Space Soldiers fell short against Envy in the semi-finals, it was time for the third-place decider, which had a $140,000 increase in prizemoney on the line.

Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and company began with a close first half on Cobblestone, securing eight rounds on the Terrorist side. Virtus.pro then made short work of the Turks, only conceding one round in the second half on their way to a 16-8 victory.

The second map, Nuke, was a very similar affair, as the Poles picked up a 9-6 scoreline on the favored CT side. After switching over to the offense, they won seven rounds in a row for third place at WESG and a $200,000 cheque.

i dont really understand, why so much hate towards vp here. most successful team EVER. they won everything pultiple times, they are on top (1-5) for over a decade! 200k for a few maps isnt that bad. 800k would be better, but they have less and less motivation, and you can see that in game.

I don't hate VP, it is one of my favorite teams. But it is so disappointing that they didn't win this event, when they are supposed to be a level above everyone participating. Saying they lost motivation sounds very stupid. They live and breathe for counter strike, + some of them have families to take care of, so every dollar they earn counts. Of course 200k for a couple of maps isn't bad, but compare it to 800k for a couple of maps more against t2 teams, and envy who sucks in t1, then it is a major let down, and shitty feeling.

VP actually threw this match cuz they wanted to let Kinguin achieve something. Look at SK and Immortals. Same thing.

good tournament space soldiers, I think they were too tilted after losing that Envyus match that was super close to be able to go up against VP properly, if this was the grand final I think they would have played better.

Yes, if this was the grand final, VP vs Space Soldiers, instead of a 3rd place decider, Space Soldiers would have played better. Since it's a third place decider it's like who cares you aren't first place so nothing matters, not even money. I'm speaking hypothetically if this was a grand final and not a 3rd place decider.

Space soldiers did well, they almost had it but too bad they still lack exposure to handle pressure playing in tournament. They deserve to be in the ELEAGUE major next year with this lineup.
